A little girl on the verge of her dreams coming true. "Finally Japan for me", she says. The excitement in her wells up as she begins to mentally prepare herself for the adventure.
This is Me. I am a 25 year old girl living in Dunedin. I was born in Invercargill, and lived in Winton and Waianawa before our family moved here for work. I have lived here for 18 years and feel like this is home, and yet I have this unending desire to explore.
Ever since my cousin came home for Christmas from Japan I have been fascinated with the country. You see my cousin gave me an origami set for Christmas. Just a cheap thing from the 100 en shop or something I guess, but I loved it and continue to enjoy making wee folded paper sculptures. I went on to learn Japanese at high school and even went to Japan for a tour and then on an exchange. Japanese was my major at university and I dreamed of going to Japan to teach English.
After hearing about the JET programme I knew that this was the next step in my journey. It took 2 and a half years after completing my degree for me to put my plan into action, and now I am awaiting my acceptance into the programme. Now that I have come so far, I can't think what kept me back for so long. I could have saved money and just gone there on my own steam... But no... I had to go by the JET programme.
This Website is a log of my journey from NZ to Japan, and all the bumps along the way.
