wow!! I finished a project!!

I have been knitting. I finished a pair of gloves!! yay! they are whole fingered gloves knit in extremely fine opal self patterning wool. I love them!! I generally have a tendency to start something and then take ages to finish something... Well this is true in this case as well!! I started these gloves in august last year!! HA! And have finally finished them today!! YAY! I am so stoked!! These gloves were a bitch to knit! just so you know. On the first glove I thought it would be cute to have all the fingers patterned the same... Nah uh.. it was just a pain... no way could I be bothered doing that again... especially since it had been so long since I started them... I just wanted them finished! I thought about giving them to my mum for mothers day, but when I showed them to her she said "cool I want to knit some too!! " The neat thing about knitting with self patterning wool is that you never know what is going to happen, so its always interesting to do, and fun too! I like them... AND the best bit is that its winter in NZ so YAY! new handwarmers for me

here they are! )

I hope you like!

overqualified...

I want to hurry up and get news of japan... I am soo overqualified for my current job and I am also so plain over it in general, the only things that keep me sane are my work buddies, the knowledge that I'm gonna need money, and my friends hamish becky clair and aaron!! they rock!! nope nothing else keeping me there...

I have a degree in languages, a cert tefl, a graduate diploma in secondary school teaching, and I work in a supermarket checkout... so many people say to me... WHAT are you DOING!! And I say, just waiting for my job with jet (to what... come and slap me in the face!! to come and say "wake up lisa" Its time to go to JApan!!")(whatever!)

Grr... It seems so silly to have waited so long just for this one thing to happen... But meh, thats the way I did it right... ?

So this is the shiz... I am going to Japan in August (the 5th!!) and probably not coming back for a long time! (like 3 or 4 years) I have a job with the Jet programme teaching english in Japan, to wee school students... It is going to be loads of fun, and according to many people I WILL meet the man of my dreams over there and he is going to sweep me off of my feet! (its not like this has happened to anyone that says it, its just that it would be soo romantic to think that that could happen!!)

So I guess I had better start getting ready, cause pretty soon life is gonna give me a wake up call!!

people...

People get annoyed at the strangest things. I work in a supermarket. My job is to put peoples shopping into... you guessed it... supermarket shopping bags! Wow. so much fun... Anyway my point is. You would think that I would know how to do this, seeing as I have worked there for 3 years. But apparently not.
Today a man got extremely annoyed because I was trying to put his lettuce in with his loaf of bread. He wasn't annoyed at first, he just told me to put the lettuce in a separate bag... So I did... It seems very trivial writing about it but... anyway. I mentioned that some people like to conserve bags to either save money, or save the planet; and then he went off his rocker! He was like I don't want my produce squashed, people try and fill the bags as full as they can and they squash my produce, and I am paying for the damn produce and I will have as many bags as I want to bag up my produce...
I could feel the anger building up inside me... but I didn't say anything. I took a deep breath and said I am sorry, I was just saying... and was super polite, said have a nice day etc... It was just a lettuce! and people never eat the outer leaves anyway!!!
Grrrr... anyway I just thought it was funny that people get so angry about something so trivial. Aaaaah the life of a checkout chic... She who takes the brunt of every argument... It is always the checkout chicks fault...
